Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi and US President Donald Trump will hold a telephone conversation with the participation of European leaders on Saturday, December 27. The main goal is to inform the partners about the progress of negotiations and to agree on further steps. It is reported Axios.
According to the publication, which refers to the words of a Ukrainian official, the conversation should help gather all key participants in the process in one format and synchronize positions. It is primarily about the current state of negotiations and what stage they are at now.
According to the Axios interlocutor, such communication is important so that European partners have a clear understanding of what exactly is being discussed between Kyiv and Washington, and what decisions may be made in the near future.
Previously, Volodymyr Zelenskyy already spoke about the need for closer coordination with the USA and the countries of the European Union. He also expressed hope that a joint dialogue with Donald Trump would help “establish contact with the Europeans” and build a common approach to further negotiations.
It is noted that the next step may be a personal meeting. Zelensky expects that during the meeting scheduled for Sunday, December 28, it will be possible to deepen communication with European leaders and consolidate the agreements reached during the telephone conversation.
The conversation is expected to touch not only on the general course of negotiations, but also on Europe’s role in further diplomatic efforts regarding Russia’s war against Ukraine.
