As a result of explosions in the fall of 2022, both gas pipelines were seriously damaged – three out of four threads were destroyed.
The gas pipeline was built to deliver Russian gas to Western Europe. The highway cannot be restored. Investigations by Sweden, Denmark and Germany showed that gas pipelines were blown up, but the culprits are still being identified.
Russia does not participate in the investigation. Moscow placed the responsibility for what happened on the USA and its allies. They deny their involvement.
Numerous Western mass media reported that the explosions were organized by people connected to the Ukrainian special services. Kyiv denies the accusation of organizing sabotage.
The German prosecutor’s office emphasized that this was a serious attack on Germany’s energy infrastructure, regardless of the political motives of those who carried out the detonation.
The Nord Stream gas pipelines came under EU sanctions this year, as EU countries recognized them as a potential instrument of Moscow’s pressure on Europe.
