Video hosting YouTube announced the integration of DeepMind’s AI model for video generation — Veo — into the Shorts service.
A neural network presented in May capable of creating 1080p videos of about a minute using prompts. The technology competes with OpenAI’s Sora and other video generators like Pika, Runway and Irreverent Labs.
Veo will be integrated into YouTube Shorts later this year. The tool will make it possible to “create even more incredible backgrounds, bringing to life concepts that were previously impossible to visualize.” The model will update the existing Dream Screen tool.
Users will also be able to generate six-second video clips for Shorts using prompts, add scenes to the clips to create smoother transitions and tie the overall story together.
Other announcements include new AI features in the YouTube Studio app to generate video titles, thumbnails and ideas.
We will remind you that in August, YouTube began testing a new feature for content creators, Brainstorm with Gemini, based on Google’s AI. It allows video creators to brainstorm ideas, titles, and thumbnails.
In September, Spotter launched AI-based AI tools designed to help YouTube bloggers throughout the creative process.
