Vance is an unofficial envoy of the Trump administration, who is classified as Generation Z. However, young supporters of the US president may not consider his candidacy in 2028, writes Politico.

Nine young men who supported Trump in 2024 believe that Vance is too burdened with the baggage of a second term as the American leader.

“I think it’s time for someone new, especially for the Republican Party,” said Oleksandr M., a voter from Maryland.

Meanwhile, when 18- to 24-year-olds were asked who else they would like to see as potential candidates in 2028, they named Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Ohio gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) and Florida gubernatorial candidate James Fishback.

They were also asked who wanted to see Vance as the Republican candidate, only one of the nine men raised his hand, but later made it clear that he was still unsure of his position.

“I don’t think Vance can win because I think he’s too connected to the current political establishment in Washington, which I think has a very negative approval rating right now. If you look at what he did in 2018, 2019, 2020 and look at what he’s doing now, it’s very, very different. … It would be great if he ran for office someone younger. That’s the only thing I don’t have against Vance. But overall I just don’t think so [він] can win I think he has changed his position on a lot of issues,” said Sam Z., a voter from Minnesota.

In turn, the only voter who said he was ready to support a politician in 2028 emphasized that he likes Vance’s experience.

“I think because he’s already the vice president, he has more experience than most people, which gives him an advantage,” said Reuben T., a voter from Georgia.

In addition, the men were asked if any of them would like the United States to buy Greenland, to which no one raised their hand.

“No other president has ever said that. She’s always been a part of Denmark. I think we should just respect that and leave things as they are and focus on what’s really going on inside the country,” said Mukish S. from California.

Dillon, a voter from Rhode Island, added:

“I think it’s a bit redundant right now and it’s not the best way to spend our resources.”
