The founder of BO Reaktivna poshta, military expert Pavlo Narozhnyi, commented on Radio NV about what is happening near Ugledar, where the situation has worsened significantly in recent days.

According to him, one must be ready for everything.

When [ворог] he cannot take the city head on [б’ється] for a while, loses a lot of resources, and then they start to flank. The enemy went on the flanks, and on the flanks they have success. And it really makes little sense to leave a garrison there, to keep it, with the threat of the environment,” Narozhny explained.

The enemy has a numerical advantage in Kharkiv Oblast (Photo: REUTERS/Valentyn Ogirenko) “There is a threat.” The Russians actually took under fire control the main logistics route Borov — Kupyansk-Vuzlovy — a soldier of the 77th brigade of the ZSU

He added, due to what the city has been holding on for so long:

Ugledar is, in fact, several blocks located at the crossroads right in the middle of the steppe. And here is one more point: you can go there only along the roads. Why so? Because there is chernozem and any rain – the equipment gets stuck, it is very difficult to drive. The entire area is mined, very well shot by our gunners. That is why Ugledar held on for a long time.”

Narozhny also told why the enemy wants to capture him:

It is approximately 20 kilometers from Vugledar to the railway – to the Volnovakha-Melitopol branch. This means the possibility of covering it with jets of the Grad system, for example, or barrel artillery. And that’s why they didn’t use this area. Therefore, if they have the opportunity to transport [боєприпаси] through Volnovakha, this will greatly improve their logistics.”

In a report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) for September 17, it was reported that Russian troops advanced in the Ughledar direction (southwest of the city of Donetsk). Geolocated footage released on September 17 shows that Russian troops have recently advanced slightly to the northeast of Kostiantynivka (northeast of Vugledar). Russian “militants” claimed that Russian troops had also advanced two kilometers southeast of Vodyanyi and near Vugledar itself.

On September 11, the BBC Ukraine website reported that Vugledar was under threat from his entourage.

On September 20, the Operational Command of the North reported that the commander of the 72nd separate mechanized brigade named after the Black Zaporozhets, which maintains the defense near Vugledar, Ivan Vinnik, was dismissed and should be appointed to a higher position.
