Newly crowned Australian Open 2026 champion Yelena Rybakina at the award ceremony after defeating Arina Sobolenko in the final of the major, she commented on her triumph:

“It’s hard to find the words right now, but of course I want to congratulate Arina on her amazing results over the past few years. I know how difficult it is, but I hope we play many more finals together. And of course congratulations to your team on the great progress – you’ve done a great job.

I want to thank you all for such an incredible atmosphere. It’s been a battle and honestly, your support has kept us going. And a huge thanks to Kazakhstan. I felt a lot of support from that side. And thanks to everyone who made this tournament possible. Tennis Australia, Craig of course, for making us feel so good here. It’s a really lucky slam and I always enjoy coming here and playing in front of you.

And of course I want to thank my team. It would not be possible without you. We had a lot of different things going on and I’m very happy that we achieved this result. Thank you all and I hope we continue to move forward and be strong this year.

I also want to thank the medical team – you always do a great job. I hope I haven’t forgotten anyone. In fact, I want to thank my sponsors and the president of the tennis federation – Bulat Utemuratov. Thank you for always coming and supporting us.

Today we had a few more matches with players from Kazakhstan and I am very proud of that. And hopefully we will continue to do good work. A huge thank you to everyone. Thank you”.

How much did Rybakina earn for the 2026 Australian Open trophy?
