This week, the US has flown a large number of special-purpose aircraft and several cargo planes filled with troops and equipment to the Caribbean.

Source: as “European Truth” writes, The Wall Street Journal reports this with reference to data from American officials and open sources of information about flights

Details: At least 10 U.S. CV-22 Osprey rotary-wing aircraft used by U.S. Special Operations Forces were flown to the Caribbean on Monday from Cannon Air Force Base in New Mexico, according to the WSJ.

According to the flight tracking system, C-17 cargo planes from the US military bases Fort Stewart and Fort Campbell also arrived in Puerto Rico.

A US official told the WSJ that the planes carried military personnel and equipment. The source did not specify what types of troops and equipment the planes were transporting.

Cannon is known to be home to the 27th Special Operations Regiment, and Fort Campbell is home to the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, an elite unit of the US Special Operations Forces, and the 101st Airborne Division.

These units specialize in supporting high-risk infiltration and personnel extraction missions, as well as providing close air and combat support.

The troop redeployment came as the Trump administration stepped up pressure on Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro by ordering the blockade of oil tankers entering and leaving the country.

On November 29, Donald Trump announced the “closure of the skies” over Venezuela and the “adjacent airspace.” This was preceded by numerous US strikes on vessels off the coast of Venezuela, which they believe are related to drug trafficking.

The American president recently said that he does not rule out the possibility of war with Venezuela.
