French, British and German ambassadors are expected to insist that any agreement contains security and post-war guarantees, may be partially paid at the expense of frozen Russian assets.
Non -publicly European and Ukrainian officials privately acknowledge that Kiev is unlikely to regain control of the territories controlled by Russia in the near future. At best, they hope to slow down in a hurry with any peace agreement, which will allow Moscow to keep the conquered lands and get out of sanctions.

The US proposal in Paris, including the proposal to recognize Crimea in Russian, appeared after this month the special messenger of Trump Steve Vitcoff visited Moscow for a long -term meeting with the Kremlin head Vladimir Putin.

According to WP, Europe has some levers of influence, including billions of confiscated or frozen Russian assets that can be returned or used to finance the post -war reconstruction programs.

On April 23, there will be a meeting in London where the US, Ukraine and its European allies will discuss steps to cease fire in the Russian-Ukrainian war.
