American director Woody Allen responded to criticism of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry for his participation in the Moscow International Cinema Week.

Straight language Allen: “When it comes to a conflict in Ukraine, I am firmly convinced that Vladimir Putin is absolutely wrong. The war he has caused is terrible. But whatever the politicians did, I do not think that the termination of artistic conversations is a good way to help.”

- According to Russian media, Allen took part on a videoconference on August 24 at the Moscow International Cinema Week, where he discussed the future of cinema in view of the development of artificial intelligence. He also said that he always liked the Russian cinema.
- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine condemned Allen and called it “the shame and the insult of the victim of Ukrainian actors and cinematographers who were killed or injured by Russian military criminals during the Russian aggression against Ukraine.”
