Former head coach of the national team of Ukraine Joseph Szabo in an exclusive interview for Sport.ua, he spoke about the linebacker’s game Nikolai Shaparenko in the match of the 6th round of the League of Nations against Albania (2:1):
“I don’t understand Rebrov: why was Shaparenko released?! He is not in shape – something is wrong with him, something is being done… In one episode, he passes the ball between his legs – to a foreign player, in the second – again to a foreign player. And not long before the moment that preceded the awarding of the penalty, Shaparenko did not play well either.
Let him sit on the bench in this meeting, but Zinchenko, who could at least pass, hold the ball and perform other useful actions, was removed from the game. And after that – that’s it, ours failed!”
