Snoop Dogg left Sydney fans fuming over the weekend after the US rapper turned up several hours late to a highly anticipated gig in the city’s northwest.

The 53-year-old rap superstar – fresh from a blockbuster performance at the AFL Grand Final in Melbourne – was billed as the headline act at the Bella Vista Hotel.

Promoters hyped the event as a ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ experience, with tickets selling out within hours earlier this month.

But punters who paid anywhere from $80 for general admission to more than $3,000 for VIP booths were left waiting until after 2am – five hours after the doors opened – before the Doggfather finally appeared for a truly bizarre concert.

Furious fans took to social media to slam the California Gurls star for his perceived tardiness – as they called for the venue to refund them their money.

‘I waited for four hours before I had to leave. Refund,’ one heartbroken music lover wrote.

‘Absolute joke. We were told he was a no-show and left. I want a refund,’ a second added.

‘Snoop “on his way” for past 4.5 hours. Bro, what even,’ a third chipped in.

When Snoop did eventually hit the decks as his alter-ego DJ Snoopadelic, the Grammy-nominated rapper treated the crowd to a truly bizarre concert, in which he only performed covers and his lesser-known hits.

He performed everything from his own hit song Drop It Like It’s Hot to a cover of Journey’s Don’t Stop Believin’ and Bob Marley’s Three Little Birds.

The rapper is also set to perform gigs at Sydney’s Greenwood Hotel and Cargo Bar on Sunday night, before leaving the country.

The backlash in Sydney came just hours after the California-born rapper was hailed as the King of Rap for his nine-song Grand Final set at the MCG.

Nearly 100,000 fans roared as he ripped through classics like The Next Episode, Gin and Juice and What’s My Name, with guest appearances by Jessica Mauboy, Baker Boy and Tash Sultana.

The veteran performer was hailed as the ‘King of Rap’ after he took to the stage for the AFL Grand Final on Saturday.

The US hip-hop icon ripped through a stunning nine-song set that featured a slew of classics and a few surprises.

After a performance from homegrown hip-hop star Baker Boy and the obligatory rendition of the iconic Up There Cazaly from Mike Brady, Snoop wasted no time getting the crowd into the mood.

Before the event took to the pitch, Snoop was egging the crowd on from the big screen with the help of a Super Bowl-style marching band and a litany of dancers.

Dressed in a crisp white tracksuit bearing his name, Snoop kicked off proceedings with his 1999 collaboration with Dr Dre, The Next Episode.

Another Dre collab, Nothing But A ‘G’ Thang came next, followed by his 2004 Billboard chart-topper Drop It Like It’s Hot.

Baker Boy later joined the star for a cover of the Dr Dre track Still D.R.E, before the rapper closed the show, with flames shooting metres into the sky, and renditions of his iconic tunes Gin and Juice, and Who Am I (What’s My Name).

While some viewers had mixed reactions to the star’s performance, the commentary online was overwhelmingly positive, with fans taking to social media to hail the star as the ‘King of Rap’.
