The State Bureau of Investigation, which handles the cases of officers responsible for the defense of the Kharkiv region in 2024, “forgot” that there is subordination in the army and that questions should also be asked of those who appointed these commanders. He fears that the former commander of the Kharkiv Operational Tactical Group, Brigadier General Yury Galushkin, and the former commander of the 125th Terrodefense Brigade, Lieutenant General Artur Horbenka “will be appointed as scapegoats.”
“There is a chain that is defined by orders and vertical responsibility. All this is completely public. General Galushkin was appointed the commander of the Kharkiv military training center a month before the start of the offensive in April 2024. He was appointed by the decision of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi. Supreme Commander-in-Chief Volodymyr Zelenskyy approved this decision at the Headquarters,” the journalist recalled.
He added that the then commander of the Khortytsia Operational-Strategic Group, Yuriy Sodol, also checked the preparations for repelling a possible attack of the aggressor on Kharkiv.
