Welt: Europe is ready to send up to 15,000 troops to Ukraine

European countries have declared their readiness to send 10,000-15,000 troops to Ukraine in the first 6 months after the cessation of hostilities as part of security guarantees. Source: Die Welt publication, “European Truth” reports. Details: According to information from Brussels diplomatic circles, Europeans are ready to take part in observing a possible truce between Russia and Ukraine. “The plans for what security guarantees for Ukraine might look like are already ready. They were developed mainly by military experts of the British and French armed forces in cooperation with Brussels,” said diplomatic representatives familiar with the progress of the negotiations. It is noted that France and Great Britain, if necessary, are ready to monitor the observance of the ceasefire with the help of ground troops, the size of which is estimated at 10,000 to 15,000 people in the first six months after the cessation of hostilities. In addition, it became known from diplomatic circles that “France and Great Britain are ready to participate in monitoring the truce even without a mandate from the United Nations (UN) or the European Union.” An invitation from Ukraine is enough for both countries. Monitoring of the ceasefire from the air and from the sea should be ensured by the states neighboring Ukraine. Turkey, which could monitor the Black Sea region, also plays a role in the developed plans for observing the ceasefire. It will be recalled that on December 30, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that some of the documents for the settlement of the war, which were worked out within the negotiation process, will be ready for signing in January. As part of the negotiation process, Ukraine insists that the monitoring mission under the leadership of the partners begin to operate simultaneously with the ceasefire.”, — write: www.pravda.com.ua
