Vera Balabukh, head of the Department of Applied Meteorology and Climatology of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, said that if the forecasts hold, “rather warm” weather is expected for Christmas, with temperature anomalies 2-4 degrees above normal.
During the holiday week of December 22-28, temperatures will feel slightly cooler, but will still be above the monthly average.
“Two decades have been very warm. In other words, we can see that we have almost had November for two months in a row. And even in November, our temperature was closer, similar to October, and not to November. While it was lower in October. It seems that October and November have switched places,” the meteorologist noted.
In response to a question about the weather after December 28 and on the New Year, Balabukh noted that the situation will remain practically unchanged. According to her, the warming has been observed for two months already, and the low temperatures in October and November actually “switched places”.
Forecasts indicate that December this year will be two degrees higher than the climatic norm, which confirms the duration of warm weather conditions in Ukraine during the winter period.
