The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, had a telephone conversation with the President of Argentina, Javier Miley.
The head of state congratulated Javier Miley and the entire Argentine people on Christmas and Hanukkah and the coming New Year.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the other day, together with the rabbis of Ukraine, he lit the Hanukkah menorah, which was presented by Javier Miley at his inauguration in Buenos Aires a year ago.
“The light of Ukraine is capable of defeating the darkness brought by Russia if we have friends like Argentina,” the President said.
The head of the Ukrainian state noted Argentina’s success in economic reforms, liberalization of foreign trade and curbing inflation, because this is exactly the result that inspires everyone.
Separately, the President of Ukraine thanked Argentina for important steps in support of our country during the first year of the presidency of Javier Millay: participation in the inaugural Peace Summit and joining the Coalition for the return of Ukrainian children, the international Crimea platform and the Rammstein format.
Volodymyr Zelenskyi emphasized that Ukraine needs to preserve the Defense Contact Group, as well as joint steps by Argentina, the United States and all allies to weaken the Russian dictator and end the war with a just and lasting peace.
He also spoke about the shelling by the Russian Federation on December 20, as a result of which foreign embassies, including the Argentine one, were damaged.
Javier Miley assured that Ukraine can continue to count on Argentina’s full support.
The leaders also discussed the development of economic cooperation, in particular the relaunch of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation and the start of intergovernmental consultations.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy invited the President of Argentina to visit Ukraine.
