According to the DBR, the installation lasted from August 2024 to July 2025. In total, the military stole and sold about 13,000 liters of fuel. The organizer of the scheme was the chief of the material support company, who involved the commander of the company branch and the chief of the fuel and lubricant service.
In order to hide the shortage, those involved entered known false data about the amount of fuel in the official documents, artificially inflating the figures of filling into the equipment. They transferred part of the fuel to other tanks or fuel trucks during inspections so that it would not be detected.
The actions of the military caused hundreds of thousands of hryvnias to the state. Their actions were qualified under Part 4 of Art. 410 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (appropriation of military property under martial law) and Part 3 of Art. 28 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (commitment of a crime by an organized group). The three persons involved were informed of the suspicion. The sanction of the articles provides up to 15 years of imprisonment with possible deprivation of military rank and confiscation of property.
The State Bureau of Investigation reports the completion of the pre-trial investigation into frauds involving payments to military personnel in Zaporizhzhia. The indictment has already been submitted to the court.
