On this day, a boxing evening took place, the main event of which was a fight in the weight category up to 55.3 kg. The WBC, WBO, WBA, IBF world champion Inoue (30–0, 27 KOs) defeated the Mexican challenger Alan David Picasso (32–0–1, 17 KOs).
The fight went through all 12 rounds and ended with a convincing victory of the Japanese “Monster” by a unanimous decision of the judges.
After the final gong, Usyk went up to the champion in the ring, congratulated him on his victory and exchanged handshakes. Inoue admitted that he was not 100% satisfied with his performance and recognized the place of the Ukrainian in the ranking of the strongest boxers of our time.
Next year, Usyk plans to fight against former American champion Deontay Wilder, while Naoya is considering two options – either Junto Nakatani or Jesse Rodriguez.
