WBC, WBA and IBF heavyweight world champion (over 90.7 kg) Oleksandr Usyk (24–0, 15 KOs) may lose one of the titles.

The World Boxing Council appealed to the representative of Ukraine with the demand to hold a mandatory defense against the owner of the interim WBC belt Agit Kabayel (27-0, 19 KOs).

Usyk was informed that he can conduct only one voluntary defense, after which the Ukrainian boxer is expected to fight against the representative of Germany.

In case of refusal, the Ukrainian will lose the WBC title, and Kabael will be promoted to full world champion.

Usyk’s next opponent is expected to be the legendary Dutch kickboxer Rico Verhoeven. Agit is also not going to sit idle and will hold an intermediate fight in May, the opponent is currently unknown.

Usyk’s last fight was in July of last year, when he knocked out British Daniel Dubois in the fifth round and took the IBF belt from him. Kabael stopped Polish challenger Damian Knyba (TKO 3) in January.

🚨WBC ruling: Usyk MUST fight interim champ Kabayel after his next voluntary defense.
