Usyk was released and no one is detaining him anymore – Zelenskyi

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that he had a telephone conversation with boxer Oleksandr Usyk when he was detained.

“I was outraged by this attitude towards our citizen and champion. “I instructed the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sibiza and the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko to immediately find out all the details of the incident at the Krakow airport,” the head of state said.

He also clarified that “it’s good, our champion has been released and no one is detaining him anymore.”

The details of the incident are still unknown.

Earlier, on September 17, Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk was arrested at Krakow airport, Zhan Beleniuk, the first deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Youth and Sports, said.
