“Suleiman gave the go-ahead for a fight with Wilder”, — write: sport.ua
WBC President Mauricio Suleiman confirmed that Oleksandr Usyk asked to conduct a voluntary defense of his super heavyweight title in order not to wait for mandatory contenders, but to choose an opponent himself.
Apparently, the opponent will be Deontay Wilder.
“Usyk asked us to conduct a voluntary defense of the WBC title. Today we gave him such permission. If Usyk really wants to fight Wilder, then he is available for this fight.”
“Deontay is ranked in the top 10 of the WBC and could become Usyk’s opponent if both parties agree,” WBC president Mauricio Suleiman said.
The other day, Usyk confirmed that he wants to enter the ring against Wilder in 2026.
