The Donald Trump administration has proposed a plan for Ukraine to end the war, which provides a number of concessions in favor of Russia – in particular recognition of the annexation of Crimea and a ban on NATO joining.
About it reports The Wall Street Journal, citing confidential documents and Western officials.
The document was presented by high -ranking officials from the Trump team to the Ukrainian delegation during a meeting in Paris on April 18. The same ideas were discussed with European representatives.
According to journalists, the United States is waiting for a response to Kiev this week during a tripartite meeting in London. If Ukraine, the US and Europe are able to reconcile their positions, the proposal can be transferred to Moscow.
What does Trump plan offer:
Recognition of the annexation of Crimea by Russia by the United States;
Blocking Ukraine’s accession to NATO;
Possible transformation of the territory around the Zaporizhzhya NPP into a neutral area under the control of the United States;
The actual freezing of the front line with the fixing of the occupation of part of the territories of the Russian Federation.
Ukraine does not recognize any territorial claims of Russia and insists on the complete restoration of territorial integrity, including Crimea.
Earlier, the US is considering recognizing Russia’s control over temporarily occupied Crimea within the wider potential peaceful settlement of the war between the Russian Federation and Ukraine, Bloomberg reported.
According to him, such a concession from Washington would be another signal that President Donald Trump is trying to reach the ceasefire agreement. On April 18, he, together with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, hinted at his readiness to curtail his efforts from peaceful mediation, unless progress is made in the near future.
Negotiations on termination of war in Ukraine are the latest news
New York Post reported that next week representatives of the USA, Ukraine and Europe want to make a decision on a complete and comprehensive ceasefire in Ukraine during a meeting in London.
After agreeing the decision on the truce, it is presented to Russia, the publication wrote.
According to the NYP, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov during a meeting in Paris told US officials that Kiev “90%” agreed with the peaceful plan of President Donald Trump, presented by the State Secretary of Marko Rubio and two special ambassadors of Trump.
At the same time, doubts in Kiev remained about where the ceasefire lines will pass, which will freeze the fighting.
On April 17, a meeting of the Ukrainian delegation, headed by OP OP Andriy Yermak, was held in Paris with representatives of the Coalition Coalition countries and with US representatives – Mark Rubio, Steve Witkoff and Kello Kellog.
On April 18, Marco Rubio stated that US authorities are expecting progress to reach peace in Ukraine for several days – otherwise President Donald Trump would be informed that negotiations are no longer senseless. Trump confirmed that the US could get out of talks. According to Axios, these statements are intended to press Ukraine, not to Russia.
