Every day, the National Police records up to 13 reports of suspicion in cases related to illegal arms trafficking. Along with this, more than 14,500 Ukrainians voluntarily declared more than 16,000 firearms — from automatic to smoothbore.

About this said on the website of the National Police of Ukraine with reference to the Deputy Head of the National Police of Ukraine, Chief of the Criminal Police Andrii Nebytov .

With such a large number of weapons, the criminogenic situation remains stable, and some types of serious crimes have even reached their historical minimum.

This year, the police recorded almost 1,000 attempts at illegal arms sales – all involved persons were identified and prosecuted.

“3,392 firearms and grenade launchers, as well as almost 14,000 grenades, were seized from illegal circulation. When I read these figures to my colleagues from the USA (a country with a larger population and territory), they were surprised,” said Nebitov.

We will remind that The Minister of Internal Affairs of Moldova, Daniela Misail-Nikitin, said that the weapons recently discovered at the checkpoint “Leucheny – Albitsa” could have been brought into the country through the territory of Transnistria.
