Defense Minister of Ukraine Rustem Umyerov discussed the key needs of the Ukrainian Defense Forces during a video conference with the defense ministers of Germany, France, Italy, Great Britain and Poland. An important emphasis was the need for more prompt and effective support from international partners.
Umerov emphasized that in order to achieve victory, Ukraine must receive more weapons, ammunition and technical assistance from the allies. One of the priorities is to strengthen air defense, given the constant threat from a terrorist country that continues to attack critical infrastructure of Ukraine.
The issue of providing artillery ammunition was also raised, since the 1 million shells provided by the partners are not enough to achieve the necessary parity with the enemy. In this regard, Umerov emphasized the need for additional supplies for an effective fight.
Ukraine actively cooperates with international partners in the defense industry. Among the key directions for development are the production of ammunition, armored vehicles, air defense systems and artillery systems in Ukraine, as well as the transfer of technologies for the development of domestic defense capabilities.
Umerov paid special attention to the need to conduct an audit of the aid provided to Ukraine over the past three years in order to determine the most effective models of support and expand them in the future. Ukraine is also ready for new initiatives that will help to more quickly meet the needs of the Armed Forces in 2025.
