“Ukrzaliznytsia”: outdoor lighting was dimmed at five large railway stations

At railway stations in Lviv, Dnipro, Odesa, Kyiv and Kharkiv, external lighting has been dimmed in order to save electricity, Ukrzaliznytsia reported in a telegram.

Points of invincibility – there are already 97 of them – continue to work as usual. “Ukrzaliznytsia” informs that they are open 24 hours a day – here you can warm up, rest and recharge your phones. All points have backup power, stable communication, water and everything necessary for a long stay.

In the near future, “Ukrzaliznytsia” plans to open 50 more unbreakable points at smaller railway stations and stations throughout the country, in particular in Kyiv region, Kharkiv region, Odesa region, Lviv region and Dnipropetrovsk region.

On January 15, Prime Minister Yulia Svyridenko stated that all OVA and Kyiv city military administrations should reduce electricity consumption during the day, in particular, limit external lighting of buildings and territories, advertising lighting, and excess street lighting. From January 16, outdoor lighting was limited in Kyiv.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion in February 2022, Russia has been striking Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. According to the Ministry of Energy, as of December 12, since the beginning of 2025, the Russian military has attacked the energy infrastructure of Ukraine 4,500 times, and with the beginning of autumn, these attacks have intensified.

After the last massive attacks by the Russian Federation, the energy system of Ukraine is under a state of emergency, the most difficult situation is in Kyiv and the Kyiv region. After the Russian strike on January 9, emergency shutdowns continue. Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko said that this Russian attack was the most painful for the city’s critical infrastructure. He emphasized that the situation is the most difficult in four years.
