Serhiy Vovk, director of the Center for Transport Strategies, said this while commenting on the UZ’s initiative to raise tariffs, information about which appeared a few days ago.“If we look at the financial statements that were recently made public, the company showed a large net profit for three quarters. In addition, the company shows an increase in freight traffic, and this is recorded, including during the last period,” says Vovk.
Given that most Ukrainian enterprises are currently experiencing a crisis due to military actions and the situation on world markets, the UZ should keep tariffs at the current level in order to allow the Ukrainian economy to develop, the expert is convinced.
“I don’t see any reason to raise the issue of raising tariffs. All the more so in a situation where the main industries that are clients of Ukrzaliznytsia are in a very difficult situation today — both because of the risks of the war period and a very unfavorable economic situation juncture in foreign markets. That’s why I think that this question is definitely out of time,” Vovk says.
