The Verkhovna Rada adopted draft law No. 9381, which provides for the allocation of about 10 billion hryvnias received by NEC “Ukrenergo” to pay off debts on the electricity market.

According to the law, “Ukrenergo” will use the excess revenues received from the dispatching office in 2023-2024 for the following purposes:

  • 45% of the funds will be used to pay off debt on the balancing market.
  • 45% — for debts to industrial producers of electricity from renewable energy sources (RES).
  • 10% will be used to pay universal service providers that compensate owners of home solar power plants.

Earlier it was reported that the debt of NEC “Ukrenergo” for compensation of electricity production from alternative sources to the state enterprise “Guaranteed Buyer” exceeded 30 billion hryvnias.

Experts emphasize that solving the debt issue is critical to prevent paralysis of the energy sector. This requires coordinated actions of the government, parliament and the National Energy Commission.

Earlier we wrote that a large-scale embezzlement scheme of Ukrenergo funds was exposed, in which the former deputy head of the Kharkiv Regional Council, as well as other persons, were suspected.
