Details
It is noted that this financing was provided within the EIB Emergency Solidarity Package for Ukraine, developed in cooperation with the European Commission. It became the first component of the Energy Support Plan of Ukraine, adopted by the EIB in October 2024 to overcome significant damage to the energy infrastructure caused by the Russian war.
The Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Galushchenko stated that the infrastructure of Ukraine remains one of the main targets of Russian aggression and terror.
The enemy has already launched more than 1,000 missiles and directs hundreds of drones at our power plants, substations and power lines every day
According to the acting head of Ukrenergo Oleksiy Brekht, the protection of critical substation equipment is necessary due to constant Russian attacks.
The effectiveness of already implemented projects was confirmed during the last massive attacks with the use of missiles and drones in November-December. We continue the fortification work. The more substations can be protected, the more reliable the country’s energy system will be, and the risk of outages for consumers will be minimized
According to Ukrenergo, the total amount of credit support provided by the EIB to the company since the beginning of the full-scale war has already reached 136 million euros.
