In Ukraine, due to the frosty weather, electricity consumption is increasing, as the situation in the power system is changing, changes in shutdown schedules are also possible, reports the company “Ukrenergo”.

According to the report, today, November 26, as of 6:00, the level of consumption was 5% higher than at the same time the previous day, on Monday. This is explained by the maintenance of frosty weather in most areas throughout the day. The previous day there was also an increase in electricity consumption.

The company reminds that now the Ukrainian power system continues to recover after ten massive attacks by the Russians, it still has a significant power deficit. Emergency and scheduled repairs are ongoing at power facilities.

Therefore, in order to balance the power system in all regions, hourly blackout schedules were in effect between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. But changes in the application of these restrictions are possible.

According to Ukrenergo, during the day, electricity will be imported from Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, and Moldova with a total volume of 7,197 MW•h.

On the night of November 17, Russian troops launched a massive combined attack on the facilities of the energy sector of Ukraine, using, according to the Air Force of the Armed Forces, 120 missiles and 90 unmanned aerial vehicles. After this attack, for the first time in the last few months, Ukraine began to apply blackout schedules that had not been in effect since the summer.

According to the Ministry of Energy, since October 2022, Russia has carried out more than a thousand strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure facilities, this year alone 9 GW of generating capacity was lost due to strikes.
