From January 1, 2025, a monthly supplement of one thousand hryvnias will be established for all teachers of general secondary education.
The Minister of Education and Science, Oksen Lisovyi, stated this on TV, reports Ukrinform.
“This is a supplement, which is established from January 1, 2025, for all teachers of general secondary education, regardless of seniority, regardless of whether they are from the city or from the village, it is a monthly supplement to the teacher’s salary. The mechanism is our internal mechanism, the teacher will not feel it. This surcharge does not require any additional actions on the part of the teacher. And that’s why it’s the most convenient solution,” said Lisovyi, answering a question about the mechanism of payment of extra pay to teachers in the amount of ₴1,000 and to which of the teachers it will be charged.
He noted that solving the issue of teachers’ salaries requires a much larger amount than what was found in this year’s budget.
“The general need to withdraw the salaries of teachers and pedagogical workers, it should be noted that we are not only talking about teachers, it amounts to about ₴300 billion hryvnias. In this year’s budget, we found 12 billion hryvnias, so a decision was made to introduce a supplement to teachers’ salaries in the amount of ₴1,000 per month,” the minister emphasized.
As a reminder, in 2023, compared to 2022, the State Budget of Ukraine provided ₴20.5 billion less for teachers’ salaries.
Ukrainian teachers can independently raise their salary by 20% if they pass the certification procedure, the head of the Ministry of Education announced earlier.
