The publication notes that members of various branches of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences participated in preliminary voting in several categories, including animated short, feature documentary, short documentary, international feature, short feature, makeup and hair, original music, original song, sound and visual effects.
In particular, Mstislav Chernov’s film “2000 meters to Andriivka” is listed in the “Documentary” category.
It is known that the final nominees for the Oscar film award will be announced on January 22, 2026, and the awarding ceremony for the winners is scheduled for March 15 next year.
It is noteworthy that Chernov’s previous work “20 days in Mariupol” won the “Oscar 2024” in the category of the best documentary film.
Suspilne Kultura reported that the film “2000 meters to Andriivka” was created in partnership between the Associated Press and Frontline (PBS). The premiere of the tape took place on November 25 on the American PBS channel — a public broadcaster in the USA.
In Ukraine, the film premiered at the Docudays UA International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival. The film could also be seen in cinemas and on Kyivstar TV streaming.

They are accompanied by a journalist. The shooting of the film began in September 2023, the work lasted almost a year and a half.
In addition to Mstislav Chernov, producers Michelle Mizner and Rainey Aronson-Rath, as well as photographer Oleksandr Babenko worked on the tape. It is known that the music for the film was created by the two-time winner of the “Grammy” award composer and music producer Sam Slater (“Chernobyl”, “Joker”).
Another Ukrainian film – I Died in Irpin (I died in Irpin) directed by Anastasia Falileeva is also listed in the “Short animation film” category. It is worth noting that he has already won an award at the International Short Film Festival in Clermont-Ferrand (France).
