Following the announcement of Kuznetsov’s hunger strike, consular officials of the Consulate General of Ukraine in Milan held an emergency meeting with him on November 5 – the fourth in total since his detention in August of this year.

As noted in the department, during the one and a half hour conversation, the consular officials found out the actual condition of the man, the conditions of his detention, the attitude of the institution’s administration, and once again offered him comprehensive assistance from the diplomatic institution.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also emphasized readiness to cooperate with the Italian and German parties during the investigation of the case. At the same time, the ministry demands the husband’s return to Ukraine.

At the end of October, the Bologna court decided to extradite the Ukrainian to Germany at the request of the local prosecutor’s office. The defense appealed to the Supreme Court, which is expected to issue a decision within a month.

According to a statement released by German prosecutors in August, Kuznetsov was part of a group of individuals who planted explosive devices on pipelines near the Danish island of Bornholm in the Baltic Sea.

He was charged with conspiracy to cause an explosion, anti-constitutional sabotage and destruction of important buildings.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy declared that Ukraine was not involved in the explosions, and offered to analyze which players might need such an information dump.
