“World exhibitions take place once every five years. The theme of Expo 2025 will be the creation of a future society for our lives. We decided that despite the war, Ukraine should present its potential at the largest exhibition in the world. For our country, this is a good opportunity to draw the attention of the international community to the issues of restoration and reconstruction of Ukraine and investments in our economy,” Svyridenko emphasized.
She thanked Japan for the aid provided, which is one of the largest donors to Ukraine, allocating 4.2 billion dollars to support Ukraine’s budget in 2024 alone.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Takeshi Iwaya, noted that Japan is considering the potential possibilities of additional support for Ukraine’s energy sector, the continuation of humanitarian projects, such as, in particular, the provision of shelters in schools, or the provision of food for students.
The parties also discussed the revision of the Agreement on the promotion and protection of investments and the holding in Japan in 2025 of the annual forum on humanitarian demining of Ukraine.
It will be recalled that the governor of the Japanese prefecture of Osaka, Hirofumi Yoshimura, announced in November this year that Ukraine will participate in the World Expo 2025.
