Ukraine started its own production of 155-mm artillery shells – Kamyshin

Ukraine has started its own production of 155 mm caliber artillery shells, Oleksandr Kamyshin, a freelance adviser to the President of Ukraine, said in an interview with Nettavisen.

The official said that “under his leadership, the production of defense products in Ukraine doubled.”

“By the end of the year, it will triple. We continue to move forward,” says Kamyshyn.

According to the advisor, “an important goal” for Ukraine has long been establishing the production of its own 155 mm artillery shells.

Previously, the mass media wrote that Ukrainian defense companies are trying to meet the greatest need of the military by producing their own 155-mm NATO-standard shells, which are necessary for artillery systems, but this production is not expected to start before July.

Ukraine is trying to increase its own production of weapons in order to reduce dependence on supplies from Western partners. At the beginning of February, the government of Ukraine adopted three resolutions regarding the operation of the defense-industrial complex, which relate to procurement, ammunition production, and pricing for the production of drones.
