Ukrzaliznytsia, with the support of the European Union, opened an updated train control point on the border with Poland, which was moved to the Mostyska II station. This allows to significantly increase the efficiency of transportation.

This was reported by the company’s press service.

If earlier it was possible to inspect only six freight trains per day, now this number has increased to 15, which opens up new opportunities for increasing the volume of freight transportation and speeding up passenger trains.

Before the implementation of this project, the border inspection of trains going from Ukraine to Poland was carried out on the Mostysk – State Border line, and the average time of inspection of one train was almost two hours.

During the reconstruction of the checkpoint, a number of works were carried out, in particular:

  • 4 towers were built for inspection of rolling stock by employees of the border service of Ukraine;
  • 2 blocks-modules for border control workers have been installed;
  • 4 enclosures for service dogs have been arranged;
  • a video surveillance system with 30 cameras and Wi-Fi coverage is installed;
  • the contact network sectioning system has been modernized.

This project was implemented thanks to the parity co-financing of the Connecting Europe Facility program and the European Investment Bank.

The Ambassador of the EU to Ukraine, Katarina Maternova, noted that the modernization of the crossing point in Mostysk II is an important step in improving railway connections, strengthening ties between Ukraine and the EU, and increasing passenger and cargo transportation.

We will remind you that the Bila Tserkva – Szigeta Marmatia checkpoint for freight transport on the border with Romania is planned to be launched in 2025.

And on December 21, 2024, at 1:30 p.m., traffic through the new crossing point with Poland “Nyzhankovychy – Malkhovychy” began. It is intended for cars, trucks up to 3.5 tons and buses.
