Ukraine has started the first sectoral consultations with the European Commission as part of preparations for official negotiations on joining the EU.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine.

Sectoral consultations are aimed at preparing for bilateral meetings between Ukraine and the European Commission, which will be devoted to separate sections of the negotiations.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olha Stefanishyna, Deputy Minister of Community and Territorial Development Serhiy Derkach, as well as the representative of Ukraine to the EU Vsevolod Chentsov.

During the consultations, a further plan of preparation for bilateral meetings was agreed upon within the scope of screening the compliance of Ukrainian legislation with EU law under Chapter 14 Transport Policy.

Over the next months, the parties will work on resolving differences and preparing for the official screening of the compliance of Ukrainian legislation with European standards in this area.

Earlier we wrote that the columnist of the Polish publication Onet Witold Yuraš reported on the tense atmosphere during the negotiations of the Polish delegation with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv last week.

We will also remind you that the fight against corruption is not only on the agenda of Ukraine. Our country has already done a lot in this area, but there is still a lot of work to be done in order to join the EU.
