Prehistory:
- In early September 2024, German Chancellor Olaf Solz announced that Germany had ordered 17 IRIS-T air defense systems for Ukraine. It is about eight medium -range systems (SLM) and nine another small (SLS).
- On December 20, President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that Ukraine received the sixth-in-line IRIS-T SLM air defense system.
- At the end of December 2024, Germany handed over a large package of IRIS-T and Patriot to Ukraine.
- According to the media, in the first half of 2025, Germany is preparing to transfer to Ukraine significant military assistance packages, which will include Leopard tanks, Marder infantry fighting vehicles and other weapons.
