The Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine categorically denied rumors about the alleged revocation of permission to carry out exhumation works of the dead during the Volyn tragedy in Ternopil region.
The Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications Mykola Tocitsky stressed that fake reports began to spread in Polish social networks, which referred to the suspension of search and exhumation works in the village of Sadove (Puzhniki) in Ternopil region allegedly.
He emphasized that no changes in the position of the ministry have taken place, and the information itself is fictional and aimed at undermining a constructive dialogue between Ukraine and Poland.
Tochitsky stressed that the field work in the Lades’ Ladies was successfully completed on May 10, 2025. According to him, the Polish side recognized this process as a historical and diplomatic breakthrough in relations between the two countries.
The Minister also added that Ukraine remains democratic and Christian values, and will continue to commemorate the memory of both Ukrainians and Poles who have fallen victim to the tragic events of the past.
Separately, Totchitsky appealed to the Ministry of Culture of Poland and his colleague Anna Vrublevskaya with a request to respond promptly to the dissemination of fake information.
He stressed that Ukraine is expecting a constructive position of Polish partners to preserve historical dialogue and mutual respect between peoples.
We will remind, in the village of Puzhniki in the west of Ukraine, which no longer exists, Polish experts completed the removal of remains from mass burial.
We have already reported that the process of exhumation of the victims of the Volyn tragedy, conducted by the Ukrainian-Polish expedition, ended in May. They found a mass grave, where the remains of 42 people lay. Among them are 10 children.
