Ukraine expects air defense systems from “several partners” in December – Zelenskyi

After returning from a business trip, Defense Minister Rustem Umyerov reported on the implementation of agreements on military aid, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said in his evening address on December 3.

“(Umerov – ed.) reported both on new agreements and on the implementation of previous ones, especially on air defense. We expect systems from several partners now, in December,” he said.

The president also announced that “certain things” for Ukraine’s air shield could be implemented in January.

“It is important that this be implemented without any delay. Winter is a huge temptation for Russian terrorists,” Zelenskyy added.

Today, Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiga in Brussels called on Ukraine’s partners to provide 20 air defense systems to protect the energy sector during the winter.

According to the Ministry of Energy, since October 2022, Russia has carried out more than a thousand strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure facilities, this year alone 9 GW of generating capacity was lost due to strikes.

There are currently blackout schedules in Ukraine due to damage to energy facilities during a massive Russian missile and drone attack on November 28.
