The appeal of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin over the use of a ballistic missile against Ukraine indicates Russia’s intentions to continue an aggressive war. The only way to stop the aggression is to apply the “peace through strength” approach.

This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine (MFA).

In a comment, the agency noted that it had “thoroughly documented” the dictator’s speech on the use of a medium-range ballistic missile against Ukraine. And they added that from an international legal point of view, this “is another important testimony and actual admission of guilt in committing the crime of aggression against Ukraine and all resulting atrocities against Ukrainians.”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs assured that they will ensure the use of this and other public confessions of Putin in order to bring him and his henchmen to justice and emphasized that “justice is inevitable.”

The agency is also convinced that such a statement by the Russian dictator once again indicates Russia’s interest in continuing this war.

“It is Putin who is constantly expanding its scale and brutality, bringing in weapons from Iran and North Korea, North Korean troops, and now using a strategic ballistic missile that can be a carrier of weapons of mass destruction. We call on the countries of the nuclear club to warn the Russian Federation against threats with nuclear weapons,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

The agency called “absurd” Putin’s accusations against Ukraine or its partners in alleged illegal actions “that somehow provoke a criminal to commit crimes.” They reminded that Ukraine defends itself against aggression in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter and has the full right to strike any legitimate military targets on the territory of the Russian Federation in accordance with international law.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that in order to stop these strikes, Russia needs to stop its aggression and withdraw its troops from the sovereign territory of Ukraine.

According to the diplomats, “today’s statement once again confirms that Putin is the only one standing in the way of stopping the war and restoring a comprehensive, just and sustainable peace.”

“His recent reckless steps, including strikes on Ukraine’s nuclear energy facilities and the use of a new type of missile, are a challenge, in particular, to all those leaders of countries who recently declared the inadmissibility of war expansion. We expect that they will not remain silent, but will react to Putin’s contempt, the creation of unacceptable threats to radiation safety, and unacceptable nuclear blackmail,” the foreign policy department said in a comment.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs paid particular attention to Putin’s attempts to manipulate public opinion in the countries of Asia, the Middle East, Africa and South America, and to shift the responsibility for the war he started to other countries.

The department considers the dictator’s attempts to present himself as a fighter for a multipolar world as “absurd.” Diplomats called Russia’s actions towards Ukraine “colonialist, imperial policy.” In particular, they mean “chronic non-recognition of our state’s right to existence, independence and sovereignty and attempts to seize Ukrainian minerals.”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that “under the mantra of the transition to a multipolar world, Russia stubbornly spreads a narrative about the legitimacy of using force methods to redistribute spheres of influence.” And they emphasized that this completely contradicts the UN Charter, norms and principles of international law.

“Putin himself proved to the whole world today that he can only be forced to make peace, no talks will work. Appeasement has never worked and will not work now. The only realistic approach is peace through strength, restoration of full respect for the UN Charter, norms of international law, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine,” the Foreign Ministry said in a comment.
