Ukraine is calling an energy Ramstein to attract urgent help from allies and restore the energy system after the attacks of Russian terrorists.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiga announced a joint initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Energy to convene a special meeting in the format of an energy Ramstein.
The decision to hold the meeting was made at the behest of Prime Minister Yulia Svyridenko with the aim of obtaining additional financial contributions and specific commitments regarding the supply of energy equipment from international allies. The key task of the meeting will be the coordination of efforts to stabilize the energy system in the conditions of winter frosts and eliminate the consequences of constant shelling by Russia.
The Ukrainian side is currently maintaining constant communication with the European Energy Community for the prompt replenishment of the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine. Funds raised through this mechanism are used to purchase critical equipment such as transformers, generators and spare parts for power plant repairs. The convening of the energy Ramstein will make it possible to transfer this process to the systemic level, where each partner of Ukraine will take responsibility for specific areas of infrastructure restoration, which Russia is purposefully destroying.
The need to create such a platform arose due to large-scale destruction of generation and distribution networks, which threatens a humanitarian crisis in many regions of the country. Allied assistance is vital to maintain the stability of the Ukrainian rear while Russia tries to use the cold as a weapon against the civilian population. The outcome of the meeting is expected to help not only meet current repair needs, but also help decentralize the power system, making it less vulnerable to future attacks that Russia continues to plan.
On January 15, 2026, the Government of Ukraine, under the leadership of Prime Minister Yulia Svyridenko, adopted a number of critical decisions to stabilize the situation in the conditions of an emergency in the energy sector and severe frosts.
To ensure people have access to warmth, the government has allowed people to stay on the streets during the curfew if they go to the Resilience Points or shopping malls, which act as support hubs. At the same time, entertainment facilities will remain closed, and order control will be carried out by reinforced patrols of the Defense Forces.
The government instructed the Ministry of Education and the KMDA to extend or establish winter vacations in the capital until February 1, 2026. But this decision does not apply to kindergartens.
