Details: The department stated that such actions are another attempt by the Kremlin to legalize the occupation of the Ukrainian territories and consolidate illegal control over them.

The Foreign Ministry stressed that this decision is a flashy violation of fundamental norms and principles of international law, in particular: the UN Charter, which enshrines the principles of sovereignty of states and prohibition of interference in their internal affairs; The 1982 UN Convention on the Sea of the Sea, which refers to the regulation of navigation in territorial waters to the exclusive competence of the state; UN General Assembly resolutions, which confirm Ukraine’s sovereignty within its internationally recognized borders and condemn the continuing Russian aggression.
Ukraine has called for international partners to impose additional sanctions against Russian natural and legal persons, foreign companies, as well as ships that will participate in commercial activities in the ports of Berdyansk and Mariupol.
