The UN General Assembly approved Ukrainian and American versions of war resolutions in Ukraine. Voice of America reported this. Both options supported 93 countries.
On the third anniversary of the Russian invasion of the Ukrainian version of the resolution, which condemns Russian aggression and demands to withdraw Russian troops from Ukraine, 93 countries voted. 18 voted against, including the US, Russia, Belarus, Hungary and Israel. China withlook. 65 countries abstained. Ukrainian version Resolutions were collective – with more than 50 countries, including almost all EU countries.
93 countries voted in favor of the American version of the resolution, 73 abstained, including Ukraine. Russia did not find amendment to the US resolution, so the Russian Federation voted against. The US resolution option is more “soft” in relation to Russia. The US resolution is called the Path to Peace and calls for the situation in Ukraine.
The Russian representative to the United Nations Vasyl Neenzi proposed a amendment to the resolution with a call to “immediately end the Ukrainian conflict, including by eliminating its root causes.” The US representative called on other countries at the General Assembly not to vote for the Russian Federation before its resolution. Hungary became a co -author of the US resolution.
Earlier, public sources reported that the United States sent a letter to Member States with a request to vote for the American version of a resolution that does not call Russia an aggressor and urges “to stop conflict immediately.”

- On February 20, The Financial Time wrote that the United States refused to call Russia an aggressor in a G7 statement before the third anniversary of the invasion.
- On February 22, The Washington Post wrote that US Presidential Administration Donald Trump asked Ukraine to withdraw its resolution.
