Turkish Foreign Minister predicts a negotiating “breakthrough” in the war of Russia against Ukraine in a few months

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that a breakthrough may take place in the settlement of Russia’s war against Ukraine in a few months. In his opinion, despite the current escalation on the front, the outlines of the potential agreement become clearer after the meeting of Vladimir Putin with Donald Trump.

Details: According to Fidan, an important impetus for the negotiation process was a meeting between Russian leaders and the United States in Alaska.

“At this meeting, extremely important issues were raised. The Russian side clearly and clearly posted its conditions for the truce.

He added that Turkey continues to negotiate with all the parties – Russia, Ukraine, the USA and the EU.

Fidan regards the current intensification of hostilities not as a sign of diplomacy, but as a classic military strategy for both parties before possible negotiations.

“Both sides really increase the degree of voltage. The fighting has intensified … This is a signal for the other side. That is,” If you have to fight, I have determination, will and opportunities for it ” – such a signal is sent by both parties,” he explained.

According to him, both Ukraine with Europe and Russia are increasing their military efforts as much as possible, so as not to give the impression of weakness and strengthen its position in negotiations.

The Minister believes that the main obstacle to peace is the fate of the part of the Donetsk region that Russia has not occupied.

Direct Language: “Now it is known what the problem is … Russians want to take it away.

Ukrainians say, “This place is very important for our territorial integrity. We cannot give it without a fight. If we give this territory, it will open the way to the loss of others.”

The Russians say, “We will continue to fight, let that. Once we seize this territory, let’s go on. So, not to lose other territories, give us this.”

Details: He summed up that, based on his conversations with American and European partners, it was in this matter “a few months later a breakthrough.”

Fidan added that he “scrolls through some alternative options that could bring both sides” but refused to voice them.

In addition, the Turkish Foreign Minister decided to compare the situation in Ukraine and the Gaza sector, calling the latter a “more urgent problem” because of “systematic extermination and deportation of the population”.
