Details: Senator Mitch McConnell, the former leader of the Senate Republicans, has the impression that those around Trump are more focused on how to appease Putin than how to ensure lasting peace.

“Putin has spent a whole year trying to make President Trump look like a fool. If administration officials are more worried about how to appease Putin than about ensuring real peace, the president needs new advisers. Rewarding Russian slaughter would be a disaster for America’s interests. And such a capitulation, like the exit from Afghanistan for Biden, would be a disaster for the legacy of “peace through force,” McConnell said.
Democratic Sen. Jean Shaheen, who co-chairs the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said it looks more like “Putin’s plan.”
“What the US really needs to do is put pressure on Putin, provide long-range weapons, impose secondary sanctions on companies that fuel the Russian war machine, and force Putin to sit down at the table for real negotiations. We should not represent Russia’s interests in this agreement,” the senator emphasized.
The chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Republican Roger Wicker, noted that the 28-point plan has real flaws and is “very skeptical” of the document’s chances of securing peace.
“Ukraine cannot be forced to give its land to one of the world’s worst war criminals in the person of Putin. The size and location of Ukraine’s armed forces is a sovereign choice of its government and people.
And any assurances given to Putin must not reward his nefarious actions or undermine the security of the United States or its allies. In particular, any suggestion that we can provide arms control with such a serial liar and murderer as Putin should be taken with particular skepticism,” Vicker emphasized.
Republican Brian Fitzpartick has started collecting signatures to bring to a vote a bill on increased sanctions against Russia.
We will remind: Trump gave Ukraine time until November 27 to agree to the “peace plan” proposed by the American side.
On Friday, Zelensky addressed the Ukrainian people, in which he said that Ukraine was faced with a difficult choice and risked losing either its dignity or its key partner.
