The war in Ukraine must end, and US President-elect Donald Trump is determined to do so.

This was stated by Michael Waltz, whom Trump intends to appoint to the post of US national security adviser, in an interview with the Face the Nation program on the CBS channel.

Answering the TV presenter’s question whether Trump has a plan, whether his visit to Kyiv is possible and when he will meet with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, Volz said that he would not like to rush ahead, but named three key points. Firstly, who should sit down at the negotiating table, secondly, how to achieve this and, thirdly, what should be the framework of a potential agreement.

Also, the future adviser to Donald Trump emphasized that what is happening now in Ukraine is “a trench war of the First World War, literally a meat grinder, when people run across open fields.”

“But with the escalating consequences of World War III,” Volz added.
