- On June 16, Trump held his first bilateral meeting with von Der Lyen. As a result, they instructed their teams to “accelerate the work on the conclusion of a good and fair agreement.”
- On May 23, Trump announced the need to introduce 50% of the duty on import of goods from the European Union. He argued that negotiations with the EU “do not move.”
- Within a few days, Trump agreed to postpone the introduction of 50 percent duties on goods from the EU and continue trade talks by July 9 after talking to von Der Lyen.
- It should also be noted that on May 28, the US International Trade Court ruled that the US President exceeded his powers by introducing large -scale tariffs against all countries of the world. The Trump administration immediately appealed.
