The decree states that full restrictions on the entry of citizens from 12 high-risk countries have been extended: Afghanistan, Burma, Chad, the Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen.
Also, according to the document, entry restrictions apply to 5 more countries “based on recent analysis”: Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, South Sudan and Syria, as well as to persons holding travel documents issued by the Palestinian Authority.
In addition, full restrictions and entry restrictions are being implemented for two countries previously subject to partial restrictions: Laos and Sierra Leone.
With the signed document, Trump extended partial restrictions for citizens of four of the seven high-risk countries: Burundi, Cuba, Togo and Venezuela.
Literally from the document: “Because Turkmenistan has been fruitfully cooperating with the United States and has demonstrated significant progress since the previous Proclamation, this new Proclamation lifts the ban on nonimmigrant visas while maintaining the suspension of entry for citizens of Turkmenistan as immigrants.”
Details: The Executive Order deals with partial restrictions and restrictions on entry to 15 additional countries: Angola, Antigua and Barbuda, Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, Dominica, Gabon, Gambia, Malawi, Mauritania, Nigeria, Senegal, Tanzania, Tonga, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Literally from the document: “The proclamation contains exemptions for lawful permanent residents, holders of existing visas, certain categories of visas such as athletes and diplomats, and persons whose entry is in the national interest of the United States.
The proclamation narrows broader exemptions for family-level immigrant visas that carry proven risks of fraud, while maintaining case-by-case options.”
