Details: Richard Gnell, a special envoy by Trump and executive director of the Kennedy Center, headed negotiations with Maduro and other high -ranking Venezuelan officials. Trump was disappointed by the fact that Maduro disagreed to the demands of the US voluntarily abandon the authorities, as well as the fact that Venezuelan officials continue to insist that they were not involved in drug trafficking.

US officials have stated that the Trump administration has developed several military plans for escalation of conflict. These operations may also include plans aimed at removing Maduro from power.

Marco Rubio, Secretary of State and National Security Advisor, called Maduro “illegitimate” leader and repeatedly referred to the US accusation against him in drug trafficking.

Rubio called Maduro “a fugitive from American justice,” and the United States increased the reward for information to detain up to $ 50 million.

The White House representative said Trump was ready to use “all the means of the US authorities” to prevent the import of drugs into the United States, and made it clear to Maduro that he should put an end to the drug trafficking of Venezuela.

The publication adds that Granell has refused comments, as well as a high -ranking Venezuelan official.

Recall: US President Donald Trump reported a military operation that killed 11 Venezuelan Tren De Aragua Venezuelan terrorists. According to Rubio, the US military struck a fatal blow in the southern part of the Caribbean on a drug vessel, which came out of Venezuela and was operated by one of the recognized drug-terrorist organizations.

Prehistory:

  • In Venezuela, the winner of the presidential elections, which took place in July 2024, was officially proclaimed, the dictator of Nicholas Maduro, who has been in power since 2013.
  • The opposition of the country stated that her candidate Edmund Gonzalez won. After the election, his supporters took to the streets with protests, which led to the suppression of shares and armed pro -government gangs.
  • The US and the European Union have previously stated that they did not recognize Maduro’s legitimacy.
  • In January, the European Union Council decided to continue restrictive measures against Venezuela in connection with the situation in the country.
