On January 2, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the Constitution and laws of Ukraine do not allow the presidential and parliamentary elections during martial law. At the same time, he suggested that if the “hot phase of war”, the parliament will abolish the martial law in the country and appoint an election date.

According to the Constitution of Ukraine, the next presidential elections in Ukraine should take place at the end of March 2024. But since martial law is in place in the country, the elections were delayed.
