Trump began jokingly referring to Trudeau as “the governor” after meeting with the Canadian leader about lowering taxes on imports of Canadian goods. During a dinner with the prime minister, Trump joked that Canada might just join the United States as the 51st state and Trudeau would remain governor.

Trump also mentioned the people of Greenland, “whom the United States needs for national security purposes and who want the United States to be there.”
The other day, Trump commented on the appointment of a new US ambassador to Denmark, saying that for reasons of “national security and freedom around the world, the United States of America feels that possession and control of Greenland is absolutely necessary.”
In response, Greenland Prime Minister Muta Egede said that the island “is not for sale.”
In addition, the newly elected US president congratulated the soldiers of China, who, according to him, are “illegally exploiting” the Panama Canal.
China does not control or operate the canal, but Hong Kong-based subsidiary CK Hutchison Holdings has long operated two ports located at the canal’s Caribbean and Pacific entrances.
